Limerick walks tall in human exoskeleton project

The University of Limerick and Cork-based company MTD have joined a consortium with a budget of €3 million to develop assistive exoskeletons for use by older adults.

The Axo-Suit project is funded under the Ambient Assisted Living Programme co-ordinated by Aalborg University and co-funded by Enterprise Ireland.

The project involves three universities and five companies who will develop a range of part and full-body exoskeletons to assist in daily activities. The Irish participants in the three-year effort will receive a combined €650,000.
