Researchers in Ireland have had particular success in winning funding from the European Research Council, with 18 awards worth more than €30 million in the first calls issued under the Horizon 2020 budget.
The Irish Research Council and Science Foundation Ireland joined to host a reception on 1 July to mark this unprecedented achievement by Ireland’s researchers.
Ireland ranked second in terms of rate of application success, up from 20th position in the previous year, the Irish Research Council said in a statement.
