Irish company Treemetrics is to work with the European Space Agency on a €1.2-million contract to implement a system that can monitor a forest as it grows.
The deal, announced on 29 May, continues a four-year collaboration between the company and its main technology partner ESA.
The software development company, formed in 2005 and based in Cork, arose out of university research involving a novel method for measuring tree growth in entire forests by blending satellite data and data recorded on the ground.
