Irish parliamentarians to hear the latest on climate change

Members of the Oireachtas—Ireland’s Dail and Senate—will hear the latest on climate change at an event organised by the Royal Irish Academy and the Houses of the Oireachtas Library and Research Service.

The whirlwind two-hour session will include talks on climate science, computational science, and green issues from speakers including Laia Comas Bru of University College Dublin, Paul Nolan of the Irish Centre for High-End Computing, John Sweeney of Maynooth University and Oisin Coughlan of Friends of the Earth.

The aim is to highlight local and regional issues and how climate change might affect farming, fishing, employment, flood control and other impacts associated with climate change, according to briefing documents prepared by the Library and Research Service.
