Commercial activity in the geological sciences has helped to create a net 226 jobs during the first six months of 2017, according to a report conducted by the Geoscience Ireland business cluster released on 22 August.
Companies involved had a total turnover of €830 million during 2016, the report said. Total employment by all member companies now stands at just more than 3,400.
Small to medium-sized enterprises accounted for €245m of the total with larger companies making up the remainder, the report said, and SMEs accounted for 177 of the jobs created during the year.
