Laura Burke, director-general of Ireland’s Environmental Protection Agency, has been selected to chair the European Environment Agency’s management board.
The board oversees the work of the EEA and Burke’s appointment reflects the international regard for the EPA and its work internationally, the EPA said in a statement. Burke, who will lead the board from 1 September, will continue as head of the EPA.
In another appointment, Eimear Cotter takes over as director of the EPA’s office of environmental sustainability, joining the organisation from 1 September. She previously headed a group within the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
