Ulster University is to lead an international study into low cost technologies to provide safe drinking water for use in developing countries.
Partners in the Safewater project, which is to be funded to the tune of €4.7m by the Global Challenges Research Fund, include academics and non-governmental organisations in a number of locations in South and Central America, the university said in a statement on 31 August.
The study will involve finding less expensive methods of making water safe to drink and also devices that can confirm very quickly whether a water supply is safe or dangerous.
