The first intake of students have begun their programme under Ireland’s only honours degree course on brewing and distilling.
The course at the Institute of Technology Carlow has received a fillip by being accepted as one of only four such courses internationally to receive recognition by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, the institute said in a statement issued on 4 September.
Local distiller Walsh Whiskey Distillery has announced it will award a €1,000 prize to the student with the best grades at the end of their first year.
