Six Irish projects win ERC support worth €12m

A total of €12 million has been shared out among six research projects in Ireland as part of the European Research Council’s latest funding round.

The awards were made under the ERC’s Consolidator Grant scheme, which aims to support outstanding researchers with 7 to 12 years of postdoctoral experience who are having a powerful impact in their fields. The grants are open to researchers of any nationality or age.

The six recipients lead projects as diverse as gender rights, medieval manuscripts, hip-hop culture and stellar mass loss. Trinity College Dublin won two of the awards, while the others went to University College Dublin, the University of Limerick, University College Cork and Maynooth University.
