The Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network programme has won additional state support worth €26.8 million to support closer interaction between industry and academia.
The network was established in 2013 to encourage companies with research problems to tap into the local institutes of technology and their research capacity. It has 15 gateways—each hosted by an institute—that cover a range of subjects from biotechnology and pharmaceuticals to mechatronics and industrial design, Enterprise Ireland said in a statement.
Minister of state for skills John Halligan said that a new gateway—the Irish Food Tech cluster—would be created with the funding.
