Ireland’s 14 institutes of technology have agreed a gender and diversity policy statement that will apply across the sector, aiming to achieve a more representative mix of staff at senior level.
The Technological Higher Education Association, which represents the institutes, released the policy statement on 20 August at the European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education taking place in Dublin. Mary Mitchell O’Connor, the education minister, made the announcement.
The document represents the first such statement on gender and diversity published by Ireland’s higher education institutions, the association said.
