A total of €4.5 million has been awarded to 38 one-year research projects with the specific aim of commercialising laboratory-based discoveries.
The money comes from Science Foundation Ireland’s Technology Innovation Development Award programme. It will support 47 research positions during the coming 12 months.
The programme includes funding for project development and entrepreneurship training to help academic researchers bring their discoveries to market, the foundation said in a statement released on 5 February. The programme helps to support and encourage innovation and collaborative partnerships, said Ireland’s research minister John Halligan.
