APC and DuPont team up on improving gut health of babies born by Caesarian section

The APC Microbiome Ireland research centre has signed a four-year collaboration deal worth €6.3 million with DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences to research infant health.

Science Foundation Ireland announced the partnership on 12 March in Washington, as part of the annual St Patrick’s Day celebrations. The “Missing microbes in infants born by C-section” project would search for the collection of microbes that are not transferred from mother to newborn when the babies do not pass though the vaginal channel, the foundation said.
