Public understanding of Stem receives funding boost

SFI issues bonanza of grants to improve societal engagement and education in the hard sciences

Nearly 50 projects aimed at improving public understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics have been awarded funding by Science Foundation Ireland, Ireland’s main research funder.

A total of €3.7 million was allocated to 47 projects as part of SFI’s Discover Programme, a major component of the funding agency’s educational and public-engagement activities. Five of the projects are also co-funded by the Irish government’s Department of Education.
