One in five students in Ireland experience ‘negative acts’

     

Students report being subjected to behaviours that include threats, humiliation and sexual harassment

Around a fifth of higher education students in Ireland have experienced negative acts ranging from sexual harassment and physical intimidation to unequal treatment and public ridicule, according to a government report.

The National Survey of Student Experiences of Bullying in Irish Higher Education Institutions, released last week, revealed that 18 per cent of students at HEIs have been the subject of bullying-like actions.
