Government reopens job posting after Massimo Inguscio’s term ended in February without replacement
Italy’s ministry of higher education and research has reopened a call to hire a president for the country’s National Research Council, the CNR, after the last president stepped down in February.
The mandate of previous president Massimo Inguscio, which was extended several times beyond its original ending date because of the Covid-19 pandemic, ended in mid-February—just as one of the people shortlisted for the job in 2019, medicine professor Cristina Messa, was picked to become Italy’s research minister. One of Messa’s first statements in office was that the nomination of the CNR’s next president was top of her priorities.
