In depth: Italy’s research minister has praised the scientists and academia for rapidly overcoming hurdles caused by the many European Commission requirements for grants and loans stemming from EU post-Covid recovery funds.
Minister of universities and research Maria Cristina Messa said competitive calls had allocated more than €4.3 billion in the last six months to establish five national research centres of excellence and 11 local innovation ecosystems, and to strengthen or create from scratch a total of 49 scientific and technological infrastructures for innovation.
