This week: a trickle of Prin funding results and a call for more innovation support

In depth: A lengthy process to choose which areas of science should gain dedicated national facilities in Italy has finally concluded. The government has confirmed that new facilities will be established in genomics; genome engineering; structural biology; optical microscopy; and data handling and analysis. All will be hosted at the Human Technopole site in Milan, with research groups from across Italy bidding for access to their equipment and resources.
