Italy’s right turn up the heat on climate rhetoric

But researchers are not as cold on the right-wing Meloni administration as some expected

Italy is charging through the summer months with much of the south battling wildfires and northern regions including Milan dealing with the aftermath of unusually violent rains and hail storms. Researchers have linked these extreme events to climate change, but the country’s right-wing government is pushing back on green initiatives.

Prime minister Giorgia Meloni (pictured) has often been vocal against what she calls the “blind green ideology that blocks everything and makes everything impossible to realise”.
