Research cooperation costs money, but money also follows cooperation. The NWO, the Dutch national research council, has made the latter truth the basis of a funding programme supporting Dutch researchers who wish to work with colleagues abroad.
The Money Follows Cooperation programme was introduced almost a year ago as part of a wide-ranging NWO strategy. Before that, it was difficult for researchers to collaborate internationally because they had to deal with national research funds in two different countries, with different deadlines and priorities.
