OnePlanet semiconductor centre to launch next month

The long-awaited OnePlanet food and health research centre in Wageningen is to launch in early April after a funding deal worth €65 million was agreed with the province of Gelderland.

Semiconductor and sensor specialists from the Flemish microelectronics research institute Imec, one of the initiative’s founders, will work on setting up the centre this month.

The funding made available to OnePlanet by the province of Gelderland, where the centre is based, takes it nearly halfway to the total budget of €145m needed over the coming eight years, according to the founders.
