Dutch universities coordinate action against coronavirus

Nationwide closure to come into force on Monday, but teaching will continue online

The Netherlands’ 13 universities have jointly decided to cancel all on-site education until 31 March, including exams, in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.

As of Monday, 16 March, they will make every effort to offer their education digitally. The association of Dutch universities, VSNU, said that the step is in accordance with the government’s decision on Thursday to cancel all events in the Netherlands with more than 100 attendees.
