Dutch Labour Party demands stable funding, job security and diversity measures to boost science quality
The PvdA social-democratic party is—like all other main political parties in the Netherlands—advocating for a structural increase in public R&D expenditure. But in the run-up to parliamentary elections on 17 March, the party has also begun to argue strongly for more financial support and more effective diversity action at universities.
“The Covid-19 pandemic once again underlines the importance of a strong research sector and the need to invest a lot in it,” PvdA MP Kirsten van den Hul (pictured) told Research Professional News in an interview. The PvdA is the Dutch Labour Party and was not part of the ruling coalition that recently resigned.
