Dutch universities need more financial liberty, KNAW president Ineke Sluiter tells Erik te Roller

When Ineke Sluiter became president of the KNAW, the royal Dutch academy of arts and sciences, last year, she was immediately asked: “Why do you keep asking for more money for science?”

She answered: “We are not asking for more money—we keep asking for the same money, which never comes.”
