Financing system pitched to close funding gap for Dutch universities and lower student debt
The Basic Grant, a financial support programme for students, could be reintroduced in the Netherlands by a bill presented this week.
Science minister Robbert Dijkgraaf sent the bill to parliament on 24 October, paving the way for a new system of individual student support. If accepted, the Basic Grant would first be paid out to all students at universities and universities of applied sciences in the winter semester 2023-24, the government said.
