Dutch public R&D spending up by 18% in 2023, report says

National Growth Fund expansion and research ministry spending lead to estimated €1.4 billion increase

Dutch public spending on R&D is expected to increase by 18 per cent between 2022 and 2023, according to a summary report.

The report, compiled by the Rathenau Institute, a think tank that facilitates public debate on science, shows that this year, government spending on R&D will increase by €1.4 billion to €9.1bn. In 2024, this will rise by a further 4 per cent to €9.5bn.
