Lack of political commitment creates dearth of researchers focused on improving schooling

Mats Ericson, chairman of the Swedish University Teacher and Researcher association Sulf, has urged Anna Ekström, the country’s education and research minister, to beef up the number of researchers in educational science.

When the University Chancellor’s Office (UKÄ) published a review of a number of teacher training programs in May, the biggest reason for criticism of the programmes was that there were too few scientifically competent teachers involved in educational science, Ericson pointed out.
