Sweden records huge boost in AI investment

WASP programme success means funds will be extended into 2029, Wallenberg foundation says

A total of 5.5 billion Swedish kroner (€525m) will be spent on transforming Sweden into a world leader in artificial intelligence, as part of an extension to a successful funding programme.

The Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Programme (WASP), Sweden’s largest individual research programme, will be extended by three years and run until 2029, the Wallenberg Foundation has revealed. The foundation was created by Sweden’s leading industrial and financial family and is one of Europe’s largest foundations.
