Sweden urged to combat research espionage

   

Working group to tackle issues such as background checks, dual-use products and threats

A newly established security network run by Swedish higher education institutions will include four working groups to prevent espionage and industrial theft of research data and results.

The groups will work to encourage higher education institutes to carry out more in-depth background checks on overseas doctoral students. This is meant to ensure they are not working for other nations’ security services.
