Document asks researchers to clearly state commitment to academic freedom when teaming up
Finland’s education and culture ministry has developed a set of recommendations on cooperating with China, in order to hold up principles such as free speech and academic freedom.
The guidelines were developed in cooperation with Finnish higher education institutions and research institutes to recognise Finland’s long-standing and active history of academic partnerships with China, according to Finland’s education and culture ministry. Tiina Vihma-Purovaara, senior ministerial adviser at the ministry, said: “We have had meetings and discussions with higher education institutions and we saw that there is a need for joint awareness of different challenges with these collaborations.”
