State-funded museums, galleries and libraries to open as national restrictions lift

The Finnish education ministry has announced the first set of grants under its coronavirus support package, offering €230 million to arts and education institutions, including museums.

The support package—which was sent to the Finnish parliament on 12 May—will benefit public institutions, including the national gallery and state-funded museums across the country, the ministry said. The money will be split between different sectors, with €15.5m set aside for museums and €4.5m for national cultural institutions.
