Research bodies challenge claims of record-high allocation for science

The Norwegian government wants to spend 48.6 billion kroner (€4.2bn) on R&D next year, according to its draft budget presented on October 6.

It says the proposed R&D budget would be NKr 4.6bn more than the current year, and a record-high allocation. But the national researchers’ association, Forskerforbundet, queried some of these claims and also criticised the reduced investment in long-term basic research.
