Plan to streamline Swedish research funding proposed

Changes would cut number of funding agencies and simplify the system

Each year, Swedish taxpayers provide about 40 billion Swedish kroner (€3.5 billion) to support research, development and innovation. Universities receive basic support that they distribute themselves, while research funding is handed out by five major bodies.
