Expert committee demands more guidance on use of personal data to track learning outcomes

Norwegian universities are in need of clear guidance on data processing and the use of digital tools for learning analysis, according to an expert committee.

The committee, convened by the Norwegian research ministry, said universities are largely failing to use the data they hold about students to track their learning outcomes. Many universities are unclear about how much data they are allowed to use or the best way to keep such data safe, the committee warned.
