No foreigners and few women are Denmark’s most quoted experts

Just five out of Denmark’s 50 most quoted experts are women, study finds

The Danish media disproportionately quotes male and Danish experts, according to a recently published list of the country’s 50 most quoted experts of 2023. Just five were female, despite women making up 25 per cent of Danish professors, and none were foreigners, despite non-Danes accounting for 43 per cent of Danish researchers.

The list was compiled by Akademikerbladet magazine and experts were defined as people with an academic title or expertise in specific fields who were directly quoted by print media, online media, radio or television. The list does not take academic citations into account. Experts representing think tanks or interest groups were excluded from the list.
