€4.3 million allocated to examine the effectiveness of research and its impact on society
The Norwegian Research Council is calling for more research to examine the effectiveness of the country’s science and research. It has a budget of €4.3 million to spend on this ‘research on research’ and it hopes that the results will support funders along with policy and decision makers by giving them a better understanding of how research impacts society.
The move has been praised by Per Koch, the editor of Forskningspolitikk, an independent magazine that covers research in Norway, who said he was relieved the government had “finally” heeded the call to stump up more money for research on research.
