Research spending remains strong in Nordic countries

Nordic countries continue to spend more on research than the OECD average

Research funding in the Nordic nations continues to outstrip other countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), new figures released by Statistics Sweden show.

In 2021, Sweden’s research expenditure amounted to 3.4 per cent of its GDP, placing the country in fourth place among OECD member countries, its statistics agency reported. Only Israel, South Korea and the United States spent more.
