In February, Karin Svedberg’s life changed. She lost her job at AstraZeneca as part of a mass lay-off when the company announced it would close its R&D labs in Södertälje, south of Stockholm.
It was a shock, she says. After 19 years with the Anglo-Swedish drug company, she had to look for another job. She found one, but not in Sweden. Last week she took up a post with Novartis, a drug company based in Basle, Switzerland.
