Austrian institute for polar research opens

A national institute for polar research, which aims to bring together polar research being carried out across the country, was inaugurated 8 April at the University of Vienna.

The new institute is a collaboration between the Universities of Vienna and Innsbruck, Vienna University of Technology and the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG). The institute’s director is Andreas Richter, who is vice dean of the faculty of life sciences at the University of Vienna.
