Italian scientists use global skills to push for change

A group of young researchers who aim to push for reforms of Italian research policy has met for the first time in Rome.

The group is called Tempesta di Cervelli, the storm of brains. Its members want to use their international experience and examples of good policymaking from abroad to address problems in Italian science funding and direction.

Tempesta di Cervelli consists of Italian early-career scientists who are living abroad or who have gained professional experience in another country. They aim to change what they call the “staid” situation of research in Italy, by using their experiences to propose policy changes at home.
