Nearly 300 climate scientists have expressed their support for Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg in an article in the national newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

In the article published on 15 March, 270 scientists backed the global climate protests led by children around the world, sparked by Thunberg’s activism. The Youth Strike for Climate movement started in August 2018 when Thunberg, a 15-year-old schoolgirl, held a solo protest outside Sweden’s parliament.

The protests have since snowballed. Up to 70,000 schoolchildren each week are taking part in the strikes in 270 towns and cities across the world.
