Ikea Foundation donates €33m to Lund design school

The Ikea Foundation has announced the establishment of a 350-million Swedish kronor (€33m) research endowment in memory of its founder Ingvar Kamprad.

The money will be spent at Lund University to develop the next generation of professionals in industrial design. According to Claus-Christian Eckhardt, professor of industrial design and head of Lund’s industrial design school, the donation will secure the university’s research in this area for the foreseeable future.

“It will also provide opportunities to develop design as a subject and go beyond the traditional industrial design concept at Lund,” he said.
