Administrative cuts are really research cuts, union warns

Cuts to administration at universities are disguised by the fact that the extra work is foisted on researchers, the Forskerforbundet, Norway’s research association, has said.

According to the association’s deputy Kristin Dæhli, scientific staff have been burdened with additional administration duties to cope with budget cuts. These duties eat into their time for research work.

“In this way, administrative cuts are really research cuts,” said Dæhli.
