Swiss academics remain optimistic about Horizon Europe participation

Senior Swiss academics are positive about the country’s prospects for participating in Horizon Europe, even though negotiations on renewed relationship terms with the EU have suffered setbacks.

Guy Parmelin, who leads Switzerland’s ministry for economic affairs, education and research as one of the government’s seven federal councillors, doubts his country will sign a comprehensive treaty by the 31 October deadline.

“Our agenda and that of the EU allow a conclusion only next year at the earliest,” he told the newspaper SonntagsZeitung on 1 September.
