MEPs concerned about Poland’s use of EU money

Probe findings could further delay disbursement of Covid recovery funds for activities including research

MEPs have expressed concern about Poland’s ability to use its share of the EU’s Covid-19 recovery fund in a way that meets the European Parliament’s expectations for fair distribution—although the Polish government has pushed back against the criticisms.

A “fact finding” visit to Warsaw by members of the Parliament’s Budgetary Control Committee found evidence of “systemic problems caused by the government” of Poland, in particular a lack of adherence to European Court of Justice rulings, said German MEP Monika Hohlmeier, the head of the delegation.
