Sabine Verheyen calls actions of outgoing government “very concerning” and urges intervention after election

The European Commission “has to act” on threats to academic freedom in Poland after “very, very concerning signals” from the outgoing government that it would exert more control over research, according to a leading MEP.

Sabine Verheyen (pictured), chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education, was speaking to Research Professional News just before the Polish national election on 15 October.
