Review panel chairs appeal to minister over dwindling success rates at Poland’s National Science Centre

The head of Poland’s national funding agency for basic research and 18 chairs of its grant review panels have warned that low funding levels are undermining the country’s research workforce.

Zbigniew Błocki, acting director of Poland’s National Science Centre (NCN, whose Krakow office is pictured), told Research Professional News that a recent “very low success rate” in the agency’s funding calls “means that we can fund only about a half of projects that we…feel really deserve it”.
