Tax, red tape hampers international recruitment

Denmark’s high taxes and the bureaucracy involved in applying for work and residency permits makes it an uphill battle for Danish universities to recruit internationally, according an analysis by the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation published on 7 November.

Other stumbling blocks in the recruitment process include the lack of a tenure track system and lower pay for scientists compared to countries such as Germany, the analysis says.
