Copenhagen gets country’s first privately funded chair

The University of Copenhagen has received a 38 million kroner (€5.1m) grant from the private VILLUM foundation to fund a full-time professorship, the university said on 10 January.

It is the first so-called ‘endowed chair’ at any Danish university. The university has already recruited quantum physicist Charles Marcus from Harvard University for the position, according to a statement.
