Danish research budget in deadlock over cuts

Cuts to business-focused research proposed by the Danish government are blocking a broad political deal on the research budget for 2013. A deal was expected by 29 October, but the deadline has not been met.

The disagreement focuses on government plans to slash funding for the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation (HTF) by 240 million kroner (€32m) annually over next three years.
